In The Wake
The world's first wakeboarding feature film
Wakeboarding is Monroe Mann's favorite sport.
Since no one else was making a wakeboarding feature film, he decided in 2002 it was time to do it himself.
By 2004, Monroe had attached Avril Lavigne, Sum41, Wakeboarding Magazine, Gremlins producer Mike Finnell, Benson producer Bob Fraser, the Wakeboard Camp, Liquid Force Wakeboards, pro-wakeboarder Leslie Kent, and heck... even investors! The film was poised to take off.
Then, plans changed dramatically. Monroe -- a National Guardsman -- received a call from Uncle Sam: the film would have to go on hold. Monroe was off to war. He spent all of 2005 serving his country and helping the Iraqi people.
Fortunately, he made it back alive and in one piece. Upon his return, Monroe jumped back into production with the film, and even made it down to the first 2006 Pro-Wakeboarding tour stop in Acworth, GA. There, his connections at Wakeboarding Magazine introduced him to virtually every pro-wakeboarder in the world, and he also made a huge number of additional connections. New folks on board include Guru Trampboards, Mastercraft Boats, and Hyperlite Wakeboards, and that's just for starters.
During the summer/fall of 2006, Monroe managed to get Endeavor Agency (one of the top five Hollywood agencies) to read the script. They loved it, and decided to provide some assistance. CAA has also expressed interest in assisting.
In February 2007, two other Loco Dawn projects were screened up at Ruff Cutz in Boston, where Monroe met a number of additional producers who have expressed interest in coming on board.
Finally, in March 2007, the investment offering documents were completed, and we found our first investor.
It's now April, 2007, and we're busy on the fundraising circuit, selling shares in the film at $10,000 each through our model accredited investor exemption. We are also entertaining offers from accredited active investors.
